( talking points ) : Petition to the Dean To sign the petition, stop by the tables by the cafeteria any time this week! April 1st, 2007: Discrimination at Georgetown University Law Center Georgetown University Law Center's Dean Aleinikoff called the Equal Justice Foundation (EJF) chair into his office on the Friday before the spring fund drive began and informed her that students would not be allowed to vote to fund an internship in the litigation department of a prominent pro-choice organization. The affected student was notified that Sunday, but was convinced not to publicize the decision until after the fund drive, so that fundraising would not be jeopardized. On March 26, the Monday after the EJF fund drive had concluded, Dean Aleinikoff informed the board of Law Students for Choice that any fellowships that were supported by Georgetown, including EJF and McClellan, would no longer be awarded to students that worked at "abortion advocacy" organizations. The students of GULC have started a petition to try to get this new policy changed. Expect a new post soon! |
